there's 9/11 which led to afghanistan and eventually the conflict in iraq. and all of which of course unpaid for. but what of course didn't help was the fact that the economy has struggled substantially. there is far less spending, consumer spending, business spending not as much money coming in. it's an unsustainable solution. those aren't the only issues. since then, the government have enact it had economic stimulus program, they have been taking a very aggressive activist approach to prop up the economy that has led to a lot of spunding you should the obama administration all of which is a driver, a huge -- you add all of those factors that i just mentioned and we're in the problem we're in today. host: delaware, republican. caller: i've been talking to a lot of people and my issue is this. i think that president obama and the senate congress and so on and so forth should all take a pay cut. i think that they go home every night to their cushy little pads and obama, he's for the rich always and forever. and us, there is no middle class. all there is is t

so the iraq war and the afghanistan war. the other thing is this downturn in the economy. the downturn in the economy occurred in 2008. how did it happen, why did we have that crash of the american economy? we had it because the federal government stepped back from regulating the financial institutions, allowing them to run wild, assuming that they would be smart enough to regulate themselves. that didn't happen. they were smart enough to be extraordinarily greedy. wall street went on a greed binge and the result was the collapse of the financial industry. needless to say there were other players in this game and many americans, hundreds of thousands of americans joined in the game and took out mortgages, bought house that there was no way they could possibly afford. the financial industry, the mortgage industry and wall street bankers and we wound up with the great collapse of 2008. to deal with that the bailout of wall street occurred, most of that has now been paid back. it worked. did it work for the benefit of americans? well, it stabilized the financial institutions

every day, every day, repeated the, we read about fraud in afghanistan, iraq, pakistan, and now the congress wants us, after giving away our jobs, not fair trade, free trade agreements -- now they want to go back and give them away with korea. i cannot believe the direction that this country has gone in. we keep talking about corporate tax rates. that is the key word. "rate." they are not paying 35%. they are paying 4%, 6%, 9%, and i am making up the difference. the irs is after a relative of mine who lost their job. they owe them $5,000. karzei and his brother have walked off with billions of dollars and our congress cannot seem to stop it. guest: well, there is a lot there. obviously, a lot of these countries, and it is very disappointing to see fraud and hopefully over time it will go down, i do not want to make any excuses for it because there are no excuses for that activity. a lot of these countries do not have the same developed a rule of law that we have over here. even in our country, there have been instances of fraud and bribery and things like that. there were huge problems in it
